Annual report
Impact
Shoeburyness & Thorpe Bay Baptist Church
Impact
None of this is abstract. Every number below is a person who walked through our doors, and every one of them is here because people like you gave generously.
Community
- 45
- families at weekly Stay & Play
- 60+
- children & young people in weekly clubs
- 100
- parents & carers at mental health workshops
- 16
- young people in certified therapy
I came for the toddler group and ended up with a whole community of people who know my children's names.
Our building is busy every weekday. Stay & Play, the school-holiday clubs and our mental health and neurodiversity workshops have become places where families find practical help and real friendship.
Seniors
- 40
- seniors at weekly company
- 50+
- guests at Holiday at Home
- 55+
- hours supporting two care homes
Wednesday lunch is the highlight of my week. I don't think I'd leave the house otherwise.
Our lunch club offers a hot meal, entertainment and company. Holiday at Home gives older neighbours a week of activities in the summer, and our team regularly visits two local care homes.
Parish Nursing
- 500
- local people supported
- 50
- at weekly wellbeing groups
- 30+
- people living with dementia supported
The nurse listened to me for an hour and nobody had done that in months.
Our parish nurse offers confidential health and wellbeing support to anyone in the community, of any faith or none, from blood pressure checks to help navigating appointments.
Eco Church
- 1,200
- kWh saved
- 1,000
- books rehomed via the Bookshed
- 400+
- schoolchildren using the building
The Bookshed has saved us a fortune on reading and stopped a lot of books going in the bin.
Lighting and heating upgrades have cut our energy use. The Bookshed is a free community book exchange on our forecourt, and our halls host school groups throughout the year.
Food bank & community use
- 2,000+
- adults fed
- 1,500+
- children fed
- £3,500
- given to local charities
- 400+
- community uses of the building
No forms, no lectures. Just a bag of shopping and someone to talk to.
Our food bank runs on donations and volunteers. Alongside it, we give grants to local charities and open the building to community groups who would otherwise have nowhere to meet.
Thank you
Thank you to everyone who gave, volunteered, prayed and turned up. If you would like to be part of next year's report, there is a place for you.
